Kokanee Crankworx Day 8 Canadian Open Downhill presented by Kona

After a very late night and an amazing yesterday I'm sure most peoples
heads were pounding and in need of a bit of a sleep in. Add in record
high temperatures and very dusty conditions you'd think the Canadian
Open was somewhere like in Utah or Interior BC. The final event is
surely not be missed as the Canadian Open downhill course is straight
up gnarly. With super steep technical singletrack to a new bottom jump
section with some serious pop everyone who was there to see it live
got their days worth. The Open is starting to become a huge crowd
pleaser with the shirts off rock and rowdy crowds heckling anyone they
could and others just running all over to see all the features.
In the end it was top world cup downhillers Emmeline Ragot taking the
Pro womens and Gee Atherton taking the mens. Both are looking forward
to the World Championships in 2 weeks in Mt. Saint Anne QC.
Crankworx 2010 is surely to go down as the best ever with yesterdays
record crowds and great weather everyday all events went off without a
hitch.

Kokanee Crankwrox 2010 Day 6 Giant giant slalom and Camelback Jump Jam

Dusty and dry conditions set the stage for day 6 where we headed out to check the dirt jump park and see some stylish and progressive riding in action. From the new breed of riders to superpro's and legends of the sport it was for sure worthy to be there. Later in the afternoon and into the evening the Giant bicycles Giant Slalom went down and the course was fast and dry. If you were up there you definitely left with a nose full of dirt and got to see some impressive biking. Riders were pinning it and pedaling as fast as they could with Emmeline Ragot taking Pro Womens and Michal Prokop slaying it for the Pro Mens. After a night of top level DJ's and acts we look forward to the main event tomorrow, the Monster Energy Slopestyle. The benchmark for technical freestyle mountain biking known throughout the world tomorrow is the day we've been looking forward to.

Kokanee Crankworx - Day 4 Air DH and Saint Deep Summer Photo Challenge

Today was the Air DH which is the longest running event for Crankworx. With over 40 jumps descending down in under 5 minutes Brian Lopes once again showed everyone why he owns this event. In the Pro womens Anne Caro Chausson won again and is now three 1st place medals deep. She seems unbeatable!
In the evening we headed out to the Saint Deep Summer photo challenge which has quickly become the benchmark for an outdoor sports photo contest. BC local and 3 time Arctyrex Deep Winter photo contest winner Jordan Manley once again showed the world how innovative and original his photography and shows are. Actually all the competitors put on great shows. Last but not least we ventured into the late night to check out the Deraylor Music festival which is at the Whistler hotspots and saw BCDC, RA the rugged Man and partied it up into the early AM. Next up we'll be covering the VW trick showdown and see the inaugural Monster Energy pumptrack challenge

2010 Crankworx Day 1 coverage

What a start to the 8 great days of mountain biking that we call Crankworx. It rained just enough in the morning to make the course tacky but still keep the crowds at capacity. This year we have added Mason Mashon as a second host to balance out the Tippie factor but as you will see that is no easy task. As well as the dual slalom we checked out the the block party in skiers plaza where they showed Freeride Entertainment's New World Disorder I in its entirety. If day 1 is any indication of how amazing Kokanee Crankworx is going to be this year we are in for an amazing show.
